McKenna's Senior Portraits

McKenna’s senior portraits taken in two lovely locations for her dreamy meadow inspired shoot at sunset on a perfectly warm summer night in Redding, California. We began our shoot at one of my very favorite locations, Turtle Bay Arboretum and Botanical Gardens. Getting to photograph in such a magical place demands respect, which is why I have created a guide for expected behavior during our shoots in these gorgeous gardens. It is a privilege that I am allowed to shoot here and want to be sure to respect all the efforts and works our local community volunteers have put forth in these dreamy gardens.

Aleesha, my assistant and I had so much fun with McKenna and her parents using our on-location off camera lighting set up to create environmental portraits not seen else where in town. My goal when I use this off-camera lighting is to create images that have an editorial vibe with dynamic lighting, which is where I draw my inspiration…from the fashion magazines. We also used the golden natural light, using both scrims and reflectors to control the amber toned ambient light wrapping around our beautiful senior girl. I also like to include a few silhouette images in the gallery for my clients, just another perspective of our subject in a different light. McKenna and her parents chose not to get any sort of beauty editing in these photos, the only edits were artistic color correction by Jamie.

The outfits! YES! The burnt orange hat with 2 piece short outfit, the cap & gown, pants with cream blazer, and coral crop top with black pants. We always encourage outfit changes, this helps your shoot have more variety and show off more our senior’s personal styles during that last year of high school.
