Policies and Release
Thank you for taking time to read a bit more about our policies and release here at Jamie Solorio Photography.
Weather Policy for On-Location Shoots
Your on-location shoot will be rescheduled if outdoor temperatures are above 101 degrees, if there is a 20% chance of rain predicted on the day of your shoot, the outdoor air quality is 175 or above on the AQI meter, or because of natural disaster or force majure.
This might sound over the top, however I do have good reasoning for this.
The Heat
To begin, we live in a very hot climate and I have noticed that my clients tend to be miserable in the excessive heat. Such issues we run into are beads of sweat on brow, upper lip, neck, and under arms. There is the issue also of melting makeup and just not enjoying your shoot, which will be seen in the photographs. Also, red faces!
The Rain
My gear can not get wet and as you can imagine, a wet subject is not ideal either. Plus, there is the issue of you having time to reschedule your hair/makeup appointment if made with proper notice. Also, I need to let my assistants know ahead of time as well, keeping them on call until the last minute invites stress and constant peering at the weather outside in real time and online.
The Air Quality
I can’t believe I even have to write about this one, but it is a thing now with all the fires/smoke in California. Health and well being is most important to myself and people I employ.
The Natural Disasters
Again, not happy to say this, but the fires or whatever might occur. It was very stressful for me as I was being evacuated Summer of 2021 and having to take time to contact clients about shoots. So, if there are evacuations in town, please text me or consider shoot canceled.
Illness Policy
If you, or a person living with you, are experiencing any of the following symptoms before our shoot, even if the symptoms appear at the last minute, we will reschedule your session.
Fever or chills
Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fatigue
Muscle or body aches
Headache
New loss of taste or smell
Sore throat
Congestion or runny nose
Nausea or vomiting
Diarrhea
The Release
To begin I ask several questions that many might consider too much such as “pronouns” and “allergies.” Pronouns are important to me as your photographer who doesn’t typically know the client before our shoot. By telling me you are more masculine or feminine is very helpful to the way I pose you. Allergies, this is critical if you tell me that for example you are allergic to bee stings. Knowing this before a shoot will let me know not to place you buy the Russian Sage or something buzzing with bees. In the release I also mention “vaccination” status, this is most important during peaks of high transmission in our area as my studio is a small space and I have employees who are high risk.
Why Paid In Full
I ask that your invoice to be paid in full to secure your photo shoot since we have to schedule assistant/s and take limited sessions. Sessions will not be honored if release and invoice are not paid in full. In fact, if you give me a date that works well for your schedule, I will still be offering to other potential clients until the release and invoice are PIF.
xoxo,
Jamie
