What to Wear

Okay, sometimes figuring out your portrait outfits can be a challenge!  I thought I would create this blog post to help you and others decide what clothing would help create the most aesthetically pleasing photographs.

A few things to consider are listed below:

  • What are the color scheme of the room your portraits will be hung or colors you love?

  • Avoid red, coral, and bright orange due to color casts on the skin

  • Avoid text and large graphic imagery on clothing

  • If possible, coordinate clothing to the environment of shoot

  • Choose clothing that is flattering on your body

  • Think layers to create more visual interest

  • Hair accessories and jewelry can add that extra little coordinating touch

  • I like to choose between 3-5 colors to work with

  • If you have little girls in dresses, bloomers are good

  • Hire a stylist

Thanks and happy hunting!

Ps. I say if you can find it in your closet or your friends closet, even better! Who says you have to go out an buy all sorts of new clothing for your shoot, this not only helps your pocketbook, but the planet. Think GREEN.
